An asset to the city. That is what Sports center Feijenoord can rightfully be called. It is located less than a kilometer southeast of the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, on Laan op Zuid. The multifunctional complex consists of a sports center, swimming pool, catering facilities, bicycle storage, and a residential tower with 100 rental apartments. Stevens Van Dijck managed the design, procurement, and project management during the construction.
Sports center Feijenoord is there for schools, associations and individuals. The construction of Sports center Feijenoord is part of Rotterdam City Council’s investment plans for the renewal of sports facilities.
Koen van Velsen Architects created the design, incorporating many sustainable materials and features to keep energy consumption low. The size of the construction plot for the sports complex is very limited. For this reason, the sports hall is placed above the swimming pool in the design, making this sports complex unique in the Netherlands. Construction began in June 2021, and sports center Feijenoord was completed in May 2024.
